Wayfinders Labyrinth
An exciting new opportunity to connect with God and yourself in your local community
Roehampton Church is excited to announce that a permanent labyrinth is to be sited in the grounds of the church later this year. It will be constructed of yellow and black brick and has been designed to be accessible to those with mobility issues. The route is also unconventional, as the path will lead into the centre of the design and then out by a different route, leading the walker to reflect on, and to pray for, change.

In the meantime, the church has been an indoor mat labyrinth to facilitate meditation and wellbeing. Further. On 12 August 2026, a temporary chalk labyrinth was made available to the public in the car park. The image shows our MP Fleur Anderson taking time out of her busy schedule to walk the path. Despite the heat, several people of all ages gave it a try. 18 people walked with great seriousness and experienced a range of reactions, from just feeling a moment of "time out", to a deep sense of being loved and renewed purpose and blessing.
Walking a labyrinth consists of 3 phases: thought and preparation, journey, and reflection. Within the journey, participants are encouraged to "release" on the way in, "receive" in the centre and "reflect" on the way out. In a guided session at Roehampton, prayers are offered for the person by the facilitator as they walk.

Once the pavement labyrinth has been installed, the intention is for it to be used formally and informally. We will have a brief dedication service (date and time to be decided). After that, guided sessions will be publicised in advance, but at any other time, the labyrinth will be available 24/7 for anyone who wants to use it. It is recognised that this is just a spiritual tool. It can be used in whatever capacity the walker would like, so is open to all.
